On December 4, 2018, the Nova Scotia government established the Research Nova Scotia Corporation (RNS) to foster research and development contributing to improved social and economic outcomes for Nova Scotians.
RNS WILL SUPPORT, ORGANIZE AND COORDINATE FUNDING FOR:
- Research that produces opportunities and outcomes to advance strategic sector growth, export growth, employment creation and attachment, population growth, economic participation and benefit in Nova Scotia.
- Research that contributes to health innovation, mental health, continuing care, accessible health services, well-being of citizens, and a healthy population and strong healthcare system in Nova Scotia.
In addition to providing funding opportunities, RNS will develop and implement a strategy to increase research capacity in the province, support Nova Scotia’s research community and align funded research activity with Provincial priorities.
RNS is a not-for-profit corporation which is governed by a board of directors. The current Chair is Dr. Alice Aiken, Vice-President Research and Innovation, Dalhousie University.
