Funded Research

Research Project to Track Presence of COVID-19 in Wastewater

Research Nova Scotia is funding a project valued at $852,000 to expand wastewater research in Nova Scotia and help fight COVID-19. Dr. Graham Gagnon and Dr. Amina Stoddart of Dalhousie University are leading the project which aims to detect the presence of the virus that causes COVID-19 in human wastewater. Working with co-investigators at Halifax Water, Acadia University, Cape Breton University and St. Francis Xavier University, the researchers are hoping to help identify potential presence of the virus quickly, before it can spread.

Nova Scotia COVID-19 Health Research Coalition

In April, a total of 262 applications were submitted from research teams across the province. The Coalition announced that a collective investment of over $1.5 million would be distributed to 40 COVID-19 research teams.

COVID-19 Rapid Response

In partnership with Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and other partners, Research Nova Scotia continues to provide rapid response funding from its Research Opportunities Fund.
