On May 1, 2025, Research Nova Scotia (RNS) received a new mandate from the province. RNS now supports, organizes and coordinates the funding of research to increase economic growth and productivity in three priority sectors: (1) natural resources, climate change and clean energy; (2) life sciences and health sciences; and (3) construction and transportation. To deliver this mandate, RNS is developing a new strategic plan to describe how we will support these priorities.
Below is a draft plan, which was informed by an international review of publicly funded research support organizations and initiatives with an economic mission. This is Version 3: the first was reviewed by RNS’s Board of Directors; the second was reviewed by a group of research leaders, investors, and representatives of government programs. With Version 3, we are now seeking feedback from the broader research ecosystem.
To achieve our mandate, we will need to collaborate with and support Nova Scotia’s considerable research talent working in the three priority sectors. This plan provides an overview of how we intend to do that.
Please review the draft strategic plan and share your thoughts with us using the feedback form button below. We are requesting feedback by September 2, 2025.
