These overarching outcomes describe what the Province of Nova Scotia expects to achieve by investing in research through Research Nova Scotia (RNS). All funded research must demonstrate advancements toward at least one of the seven outcomes below.
PROVINCIAL PRODUCTIVITY
- Increase technology development, uptake and use
- Increase knowledge and innovation diffusion into industry
- Increase investment in tradable sectors and expand exports
PROVINCIAL ECONOMIC GROWTH
- Enhance commercialization of research, including retention and deployment of Nova Scotia Intellectual Property (IP) in the province
- Increase the number of highly qualified personnel (HQP) employed in Nova Scotia
- Increase investment in research and development in key sectors
- Increase to provincial GDP
